Cane installation techniques
The oldest installation techniques were based on fixing the cane to the patch, often as a round branch or a rod, using a string or a braided rope. This technique required using long and thick cane, so it caused the roof tract to be straight and devoid of roof windows. Later, instead of strings, a soft wire was used, which was properly arranged under the patch using a „needle” or a crochet hook.

The modern technique utilizes a screw fixed to the patch or a plate, with a soft stainless wire fixed to it. This technique is especially widely used in newly built houses. Renovation works in old houses still make use of the sewing with a needle or a crochet hook.
