Restoration and Fire protection
Protections that we use can be divided into internal and external ones.

Internal protections protect against fire penetrating from the outside to the inside of the object. Here in most cases we use non-flammable cement particle board CETRIS or nonwoven fabric SEPATEC.

Fireproof impregnations with the use of preparation Pyronova RC 8 are external protection. This is an American preparation which as the only one in Poland passed tests of the Building Research Institute in the Fire Research Department (classification report NP.-817/08/ZM). According to classification report, roof protected with preparation Pyronova RC 8 was classified in the scope of preservation against external fire influence as follows:

Broof (t1)
This classification is in force for final application according to the technical specification, which buildings and their location should fulfill and as for a roof not propagating fire” according to the Minister of Infrastructure ordinance of 12 March 2009.

(Dz. U. No.75 of 15 June 2002 ).It is very important in case of thatched roofs on large buildings, because according to Minister of Infrastructure ordinance of 12 March 2009, changing ordinance concerning technical specification, which buildings and their location should fulfill, article 219 act 1 reads as follows:
„1. Roofing with the area exceeding 1000 m2, should not propagate fire, the flammable thermal insulation should be separated from the building inside with a partition and its class of resistance should not be lower than R E 15.”

Pyronova RC 8 is a new generation preparation, the task of which is to prevent ignition of thatched roofing. The preparation is applied by spraying with paint sprayers (Wagner and Campbell Hausfeld), according to the producer’s recommendations.

Impregnation with Pyronova RC 8, according to the recommendations of the Building Research Institute is sufficient for 5 years, after this time it should be repeated. This period of time results from gradual washing away the preparation from the top layer of the thatched roof by rainfalls.

Impregnation prevents accidental ignition (cigarette ends, sparks, fireworks, etc.) and fire raising of the thatched roofing at one spot (burning torch, rag, etc.). The side effect of applying the preparation is additional protection of the thatched roofing against fungi, insects as well as significant elongation of its life span.

Preparation is sprayed under high pressure by means of paint sprayers, which makes that it penetrates to the depth of 5-10 cm of thatch, The impregnation process is especially important for the areas around windows (they are much more susceptible to accidental ignition), places where two or more planes meet in which more rainfall water flows, and the elements of the roofing made of heather.

Impregnation of roof is performed by means of a man lift (if it is possible) not to damage the roofing. In case the conditions do not permit the man lift to approach the roof we use ladders and roofer’s stools.
